What is RAST used to detect?
RAST is used to detect the presence of specific IgE antibodies in the blood, which are indicative of sensitization to allergens. It can identify allergies to substances such as environmental allergens (pollen, dust mites), pet allergens (cat dander, dog dander), mold, and various food allergens (peanuts, eggs, milk). By determining the specific allergens causing a person's symptoms, healthcare professionals can develop appropriate treatment plans and provide guidance on allergen avoidance.
