The interpretation of a Mantoux Test result depends on the size of the induration and the individual's risk factors.

• A positive result typically indicates the presence of a delayed-type hypersensitivity reaction to TB antigens, suggesting infection with the TB bacteria.
• However, a positive result does not distinguish between latent TB infection and active TB disease.
• Further evaluation, such as chest X-ray, medical history, and clinical symptoms, is needed to differentiate between latent TB infection and active disease.

During the test, a sample of vaginal discharge is collected, smeared on a slide, stained with specific dyes, and examined under a microscope to identify bacteria and their arrangement.
