What are abnormal LFT levels?
Abnormal liver function test (LFT) levels refer to results that fall outside the normal range. LFTs measure various markers, including liver enzymes, bilirubin, and proteins. Abnormal levels can indicate liver damage, inflammation, or impaired liver function. For example, elevated levels of liver enzymes like SGPT (alanine aminotransferase) and SGOT (aspartate aminotransferase), as well as abnormal bilirubin levels, may suggest liver injury or disease. However, abnormal LFT results should be interpreted by a healthcare professional who will consider the complete clinical picture, medical history, and other diagnostic tests to determine the underlying cause and appropriate course of action.
