What is coronary angiography?

A coronary angiogram is a procedure that uses X-ray imaging with a special dye (contrast material) to see how blood flows through the arteries in your heart. A coronary angiogram is generally done to examin if there's a restriction in blood flow going to the heart.

The procedure follow in a coronary angiogram is a catheter is inserted into an artery in the groin, neck or arm and threaded through the blood vessels to the heart. The X-ray machine rapidly takes a series of images or angiograms, offering a look at your heart blood vessels.
