Buy saffron from the markets and prepare saffron milk at home is the best. Saffron is available in three forms, saffron threads, saffron tips, and saffron powder. When choosing saffron, look for color is dark red with orange tips. Choosing the saffron threads is better than the other two forms because threads have more life than others and it mostly available without adulteration. 

Storage 
Saffron should be stored in an airtight container and put in a cool, dark, and dry place. Saffron can store for years.  
 
Saffron milk can store for 1-2 hours but it is good if taken immediately after making.
