Do you remember, whenever hair falls from an eyelash, we take that hair, put it on our palm, and make a wish?

  • Does one exactly remember when was the last wish you ever made? Was it on your previous birthday or the last time you visited a temple?
  • It is very much not possible to find a person without a wish.
  • Everyone, knowingly or unknowingly, has wished for something before.
  • Making wishes isn't limited to a certain age group, we see that each one people wish for something.
  • Any number of wishes are often made, and no restrictions are set for this. Children also wish for something.
  • Even as people differ in their choices, so do the needs they make.
  • Children want to make wishes on Christmas eve and hope for Santa Claus to appear in front of them with lots of gifts.
  • What if we say, there's a separate day celebrated to make a wish and hope to make it happen true?
  • Yes, you heard it right, a singular day is celebrated just to make wishes called as world wish day.

Significance of World Wish Day

World Wish Day is widely known on April 29 every year.

  • This legal holiday is sponsored by the Make-A-Wish Foundation - an organization dedicated to making the wishes of terminally, not well children come true.
  • It is a holiday that even kids enjoy celebrating because it has to do with it in the first place.
  • While not all the needs that are made have been or can be granted, you'll be surprised to know that since its inception several decades ago, over half of 1,000,000 wishes have been granted by the foundation, and lots of more will be granted in the years to come.
  • Make a wish Foundation has extended its support to children from two and a half years to children of seventeen years.
  • This particular day is widely known in all forms; however, we would like to celebrate it.
  • Today, it’s not just necessary to form a new wish alone, any wishes that are long pending also can be made; in the hope to make them come true.
  • But what's the process to make a wish? Well, it's got 3 important things:
  • A child with a potential wish; the child’s legal guardian or parent; a doctor who is treating the child.

History of World Wish Day

The history behind today is really an amazing one.

  • Once a really young boy named Chris Greicius who was suffering from Leukaemia always wanted to be an aspiring police officer.
  • Upon hearing this, the police decided to increase their support and grant him his wish.
  • So, the small child became a police officer for one day; thereby fulfilling his wish.
  • Isn’t this a bit like an Indian movie named Nayak directed by Shankar; where the lead role becomes CM for one day?
  • So fascinating right? This incident spread virally among the people and everyone decided to grant a wish for children who were not feeling well.
  • Thus, the Make a wish foundation came into existence; becoming one of the most popular in the country.
  • World wish day is widely known since 2010.
  • On the occasion of Greicius’ 30th birthday, it marked the primary celebration of World wish day; the fulfillment of his lifetime wish and lots of surprising and equally satisfying wishes have been granted by the foundation since then.
  • It had been just so heart-warming when I heard about Chris becoming a police officer story.
  • It had been just like as easy as a bar of chocolate melting in no time. I might suggest you read the story of Chris.
  • Chris always wanted to require down the bad guys and he dreamt to play cop, and his dream came true.
  • Light colonel Dick Schaefer handed Chris an old police badge of his and a "Smokey Bear" hat for the day.
  • Plus, he swore to Chris as Arizona's first honorary DPS officer (and just one, for that matter!). The officers even arranged for a politician police uniform to be made especially for Chris.
  • The uniform was received at the hospital on May 1 and Chris was delighted to wear it. Sadly, Chris' battle with leukemia was lost just two days later.

It was heartbreaking, but there's some comfort in knowing that he spent his last days making his dreams come true and that many other children have been able to do the same.

Celebration Ideas For World Wish day

  • There are some nice pictures of Chris in his police uniform online.
  • According to the stats, 198K children’s wishes were granted in 2010 alone. Arizona Police found one wish to be the foremost challenging one.
  • A nine-year-old wished to become a princess.
  • The inspiration fulfills its first official wish for Frank 'Bopsy' Salazar.
  • Make-A-Wish offers children with critical illnesses the chance to create unforgettable memories with their loved ones.
  • Make-A-Wish sees how difficult the challenges these children and their loved ones undergo can be.
  • Their lives are often interrupted by hospitalization and other medical treatment procedures.
  • That's why we want to give them the experience of a wish, that they're going to cherish forever.

Importance Of World Wish Day

Research has shown that the wish journey can improve the emotional well-being of a toddler with a life-threatening illness.

  • Make-A-Wish fulfills all types of wishes, from wishes to be, to wishes to possess, to wishes to travel.
  • Traveling, living their dream career, nothing is just too crazy.
  • This concept is to give seriously ill children new hope and strength.

Activities on World Wish Day

  • On World Wish Day, Make-A-Wish hosts challenge events to point out support and raise awareness for the critical illnesses our wish children live with.
  • For World Wish Day 2022, you'll participate in marathons, Walks for Wishes, rappelling, baking offs, and business challenges.
  • Visit your local Make-A-Wish website to work out what activities Make-A-Wish participates in near you.
  • There are many various wishes that children want to come true; be it a small or big wish, the happiness on children’s faces is worth watching.
  • Some wanted to become sports players whereas others wanted to be cops etc.
  • Not only are you able to read about their amazing stories, but you'll also donate to different wishes to help them come true.
  • This is often one of the most amazing and exciting things that you can do on World Wish Day.
  • There are plenty of television shows and movies we can take examples and also relate to people making their wishes come true.
  • The one film that's popping in my mind about making wishes come true is The Fault in our Stars, released in the year 2014 which was a romantic film.
  • It follows the story of Grace Lancaster, who was a 16-year-old cancer patient; forced to attend a support group by her parents.
  • She meets another cancer patient, Augustus Waters, and they fall in love, happening an incredible yet heartbreaking journey together.

Conclusion

  • A final suggestion for World Wish Day is to form your own wish jar for you and your family.
  • You'll encourage all family members to write their wishes on a piece of paper and fold them, placing the paper within the jar.
  • One wish, one piece of paper - that is the rule! You and others can then sneak into the wishing jar when no one else is around and try to make people's dreams come true.
  • You'll not be able to grant every wish right away, but it gives everyone within the family something to work towards.
  • You'll then experience the pure joy on the faces of your loved ones when their dreams come true.  does one know? -WWE Legend; John Cena has granted the maximum wishes and ranks first among all the celebrities.
  • So, anyone can make a wish but only a few people have the quality to fulfill other people’s wishes.
  • Make a wish and let people fulfill their wishes. Extend your help especially to little children to make their wishes come true.
