Why is today called Denim Day?

Denim Day because it is the day when the annual Denim Day campaign is observed. The campaign originated in Italy in 1999, after a court overturned a rape conviction because the victim was wearing tight jeans, suggesting that she had consented to the assault. Women in the Italian Parliament protested the decision by wearing jeans to work, and the movement spread throughout the world.
